Supervision

Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic
I have been supervising art therapists since 1983 and psychotherapists and counsellors since 1988. I thus have extensive experience as a supervisor for both qualified and trainee therapists and counsellors. I specialise in understanding the transference and counter-transference relationship with the clients drawing on my wide range of clinical experience and knowledge of the relevant literature and theory. I have worked in many different therapeutic settings as a student counsellor in two universities, as a counsellor in two GP surgeries, psychiatric units, therapeutic communities and as a Consultant Psychotherapist in the NHS in Kent as well as in private practice.

In addition to weekly supervision I offer:

Skype and Telephone Supervision
Through my books and my teaching I have acquired a national reputation. Many therapists and counsellors wanting to utilise this expertise and experience live considerable distances from where I live and work. As a result, I have developed the option of Telephone and Skype Supervision which enables the supervisee to phone at a prearranged time without the inconvenience of travelling time-consuming long distances.

Consultation
With my considerable expertise, especially that of working with the erotic transference and counter-transference, I provide Consultation to therapists and counsellors who wish to discuss areas of clinical practice that are causing them difficulty. A period of Consultation may be anything from one to ten sessions to look at specific areas of clinical practice.
