Supervision

Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic

David has been supervising art therapists since 1983 and psychotherapists and counsellors since 1988. He thus has extensive experience as a supervisor for qualified therapists and trainee counsellors. Drawing on his wide range of clinical experience and knowledge of the relevant literature and theory, he specialises in understanding the transference and counter-transference relationship with the client. He has worked in many different therapeutic settings, including private practice, as a student counsellor in two universities, as a counsellor in two GP surgeries, psychiatric units, therapeutic communities and currently as Consultant Psychotherapist in a NHS Trust in Kent.

In addition to weekly supervision he offers:

Telephone Supervision
Through his books and teaching David has acquired a national reputation. Many therapists and counsellors wanting to utilize his expertise and experience live considerable distances from where he lives and works. As a result, he has developed the option of Telephone Supervision which enables the supervisee to phone at a prearranged time without the inconvenience of travelling time-consuming long distances.

Consultation
With his considerable expertise, especially that of working with the erotic transference and counter-transference, David provides Consultation to therapists and counsellors who wish to discuss areas of clinical practice that are causing them difficulty. A period of Consultation may be anything from one to ten sessions to look at specific areas of clinical practice.
